💪 Meet Our Thyroid Warrior: Reclaiming Health After 40 Years of Feeling Dismissed

Our thyroid warrior joining our family of healing

At The Lyday Center, we believe every patient deserves to be heard, validated, and supported. Recently, we had the honor of welcoming a new thyroid warrior into our healing community—someone who has endured decades of feeling dismissed, overmedicated, and under-cared for.

Her story isn’t rare, unfortunately—but her courage to take back control of her health is inspiring. If you’ve ever felt ignored, gaslit, or told your labs are "fine" while your symptoms scream otherwise—this post is for you.

💊 40 Years on Thyroid Medication… and Still Unwell

After being placed on thyroid medication in her early 20s, this patient spent over four decades being told her thyroid numbers looked "normal." But beneath the surface, her symptoms painted a very different picture:

  • Atrial fibrillation (AFib)

  • Racing thoughts and anxiety

  • Insomnia and shakiness

  • Heat intolerance and joint stiffness

  • Severe mood swings and irritability

  • Runny nose and suspected filler reactions

  • PVCs and palpitations after food, supplements, or stress

Despite all of this, she was advised to stay the course. Even when AFib episodes escalated—lasting hours and stealing her breath away—she was prescribed beta blockers and told to continue her thyroid meds without question.

🛑 Listening to Her Body: "I Knew I Was Overmedicated"

She did what many empowered patients eventually do—she stopped the medication herself. And something amazing happened:
Her AFib resolved. Her mood lifted. The Hulk-like rage and irritability subsided. She could sleep. Her hands stopped stiffening. Her heart finally felt still.

Her TSH of 1.37, which might look “perfect” on paper, was far too low for her personal physiology—a classic example of why labs don’t tell the full story.

She had tried different versions of thyroid meds—like Tirosint—and noticed AFib would hit within hours of taking it. Eventually, she transitioned to a small dose of liothyronine (T3 only), which her body seems to tolerate better, and she's now working closely with us to fine-tune the approach.

🧬 It's Not Just the Thyroid—It’s the Terrain

Through our consultation, we explored her hormones, genetics, trauma history, and possible mold exposure—all of which can affect thyroid function, detox pathways, and nervous system regulation.

We discussed her sensitivity to supplements, her reactions to water type and minerals, and her intense blood sugar crashes when she skips meals. This isn’t just a thyroid issue—it’s a whole-body ecosystem out of sync.

She has a history of DVT and PE, family blood clotting tendencies, and trauma that’s deeply shaped her stress physiology. She’s a caregiver, a survivor, a researcher, and a fierce advocate for herself—despite being let down again and again.

🩺 How We’re Supporting Her at TLC

We’re building a plan that includes:

  • Low-dose LDN to modulate autoimmunity and inflammation

  • Thyroid ultrasound and full functional blood work

  • Review of OAT and hormone panels

  • Exploration of mold-related detox

  • Gentle support for blood sugar balance, nervous system regulation, and supplement tolerance

She’s not alone anymore—and she has a team that listens.
