Another Day at TLC: Hope, Healing, HBOT, and One Very Important Puppy
People often ask me what a typical day looks like at The Lyday Center.
The truth?
There is no such thing as a typical day.
Every morning I walk through the doors knowing I will hear stories that will break my heart, inspire me, make me laugh, and remind me why I left conventional medicine to build something different.
This week was no exception.
The Warrior Mom
One of our newest warriors walked through our doors carrying the kind of burden no mother should ever have to bear.
Years ago, she lost her husband unexpectedly.
Now she sits across from me terrified that she may lose her son—not to death, but to an illness that has stolen years of his young life.
Imagine watching your child struggle with severe abdominal pain, digestive issues, weight loss, fatigue, and endless unanswered questions.
Imagine being told everything looks "normal."
Imagine watching him try to build a future while his body repeatedly pulls the emergency brake.
The beautiful thing?
Neither of them has given up.
Not once.
You can always tell who the fighters are.
They don't ask if healing is possible.
They ask what they need to do next.
And that is exactly where we begin.
Is It Mental Illness...Or Something Else?
Another new warrior arrived with a story I have heard far too many times.
Years of being told she was crazy.
Years of being told it was anxiety.
Years of being told it was all in her head.
Years of feeling dismissed.
When I hear those stories, my ears perk up.
Because sometimes it is a psychiatric condition.
And sometimes it isn't.
Sometimes inflammation looks like depression.
Sometimes infection looks like anxiety.
Sometimes neuroinflammation looks like bipolar disorder.
Sometimes Bartonella looks like panic attacks.
Sometimes Babesia looks like overwhelming dread.
Sometimes mold toxicity makes a person feel like they are losing their mind.
The question isn't whether symptoms are real.
The question is whether we've identified the true cause.
We don't know all the answers for this warrior yet.
But we're going to investigate.
And if there is one thing I have learned over the years, it's that curiosity changes lives.
Sometimes healing starts the moment someone finally says:
"I believe you."
Preparing Warriors for Surgery
Throughout the week, warriors continued coming in for HBOT and IV therapy before upcoming dental procedures.
Many people don't realize that preparation matters.
A lot.
The body heals best when:
Inflammation is lower
Oxygen delivery is optimized
Nutrient stores are replenished
Circulation is improved
The immune system is supported
That is why so many of our surgical patients are utilizing hyperbaric oxygen therapy and targeted IV support before and after procedures.
Healing isn't something that starts after surgery.
Healing starts before surgery.
The Most Important Visitor of the Week
Now for the real headline.
A puppy came to TLC.
And not just any puppy.
A warrior had previously informed me that he had a new puppy.
I informed him that if said puppy was not brought to his next appointment, there was a very real possibility he would not receive his supplements.
Was I joking?
Mostly.
Was I serious?
Also mostly.
Thankfully, he understood the assignment.
The puppy arrived.
The clinic staff immediately became completely useless.
Productivity dropped approximately 87%.
Medical decision making became secondary.
Everyone survived.
The puppy received universal approval.
And balance was restored to the universe.
Growing the TLC Family
We also have exciting news.
Our newest medical assistant, Autumn, will be joining the TLC family next week!
As our warrior community continues to grow, so does our need for helping hands.
Autumn will be assisting with:
Procedures
Injections
IV therapies
Peptides
Apheresis treatments
Patient support
Keeping the wheels turning behind the scenes
Most importantly, she will be helping us continue to provide the level of care our warriors deserve.
When you stop in for:
HBOT
NAD+ infusions
Peptide therapy
IV treatments
Follow-up visits
Please give Autumn a warm TLC welcome.
I have a feeling she's going to fit right in.
The Magic of TLC
What I love most about this place is that no two days are ever the same.
One room may contain a discussion about mold illness.
Another may involve Lyme disease.
Down the hall someone is receiving hyperbaric oxygen.
Someone else is getting an IV.
Someone is crying because they finally feel heard.
Someone is celebrating because they finally feel better.
And occasionally...
There is a puppy.
At the end of the day, that's what TLC has always been about.
Not diagnoses.
Not lab results.
Not supplements.
People.
People fighting for their lives.
People fighting for their children.
People refusing to give up.
People searching for hope.
And every day, I am honored to walk that journey with them.
See you in the clinic soon.
And if you have a puppy...
You know what to do.
