What I Brought Home From Beyond…
What I Brought Home from Beyond (Besides a Suitcase Full of Ideas)
I just got back from the Beyond Conference, where some of the brightest minds in biohacking, longevity, regenerative medicine, and human performance gather to talk about what is next in health.
And while I learned enough to fill an entire notebook, my biggest takeaway was surprisingly simple:
The future of health isn't about doing one magic thing.
It's about creating an environment where the body can finally do what it was designed to do.
Heal.
As many of you know, I am not someone who recommends therapies I wouldn't do myself. If I am excited about something, chances are I am trying it, researching it, testing it, or finding a way to bring it into the clinic.
So what did I bring home?
Quite a few new toys.
And yes... some of them are already on their way.
The Cold Plunge Is Coming
Our cold plunge is being delivered next week.
I am excited.
Many of you have heard me talk about inflammation as one of the major drivers of chronic disease.
Cold exposure has been shown to:
Reduce inflammation
Improve circulation
Increase dopamine naturally
Improve mood and resilience
Support recovery
Stimulate mitochondrial health
Improve metabolic flexibility
One of the things I love most about cold therapy is that it teaches the nervous system how to adapt to stress.
When you voluntarily step into cold water, your body learns that discomfort does not equal danger.
That lesson carries over into every area of life.
Plus, let's be honest.
It's a lot more fun than another supplement.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
You all know how much I love HBOT.
In fact, as I sit here writing this post, I am currently inside my HBOT chamber.
HBOT remains one of my favorite therapies because it helps address a problem I see every day:
Not enough oxygen getting where it needs to go.
When tissues become inflamed, infected, toxic, or injured, oxygen delivery suffers.
HBOT helps by:
Increasing oxygen availability
Supporting mitochondrial repair
Improving circulation
Reducing inflammation
Accelerating healing
Many patients describe it as finally giving their cells room to breathe again.
The more I learn, the more convinced I become that oxygen is one of the most overlooked medicines we have.
Apheresis - The Ultimate Reset
One of the therapies that continues to impress me is therapeutic apheresis.
I often describe it as a reset from head to toe.
During treatment, blood is filtered and inflammatory substances are removed while beneficial components are returned or replaced.
Think of it as:
Taking out the things your body doesn't want.
Replacing them with things it does.
For patients dealing with:
Autoimmunity
Long COVID
Mold illness
Chronic inflammation
Neuroinflammation
Apheresis can be a powerful tool to help calm the storm and create a healthier internal environment.
It is not the entire answer.
But for the right patient, it can be a remarkable catalyst.
Blue Light Glasses
Many of you have noticed the yellow glasses I've been wearing since getting home.
No, I haven't suddenly become a fashion influencer.
Although I do think they make me look smarter.
The truth is that after hearing presentation after presentation on circadian biology, I decided it was time to take blue light exposure more seriously.
One week later I have noticed:
Less eye strain
Better focus
Better sleep
Better recovery
And honestly?
I wasn't expecting such a noticeable difference so quickly.
I am already planning to add the darker twilight version once a prescription option becomes available.
Platinum LED Light Therapy
Another addition to our evening routine has been our Platinum LED panel.
We have been using it nightly before bed and absolutely love it.
Red and near infrared light help support mitochondrial function by stimulating ATP production.
Translation:
More cellular energy.
Potential benefits include:
Better energy
Better recovery
Reduced inflammation
Improved sleep
Better cognitive function
As someone who spends her days helping patients rebuild mitochondrial health, this one makes a lot of sense.
And it is easy.
Which means I am far more likely to actually do it consistently.

The Biggest Surprise
The biggest change wasn't a device.
It was a habit.
For the last week we have been following two simple rules:
No electronics during the first hour of the day.
No electronics during the last hour of the day.
And no electronics in the bedroom.
That's it.
Combined with:
Blue light glasses
Red light therapy
Better sleep habits
My HRV has improved.
My sleep scores have improved.
My recovery has improved.
In one week.
Not six months.
One week.
Sometimes the biggest upgrades come from removing things rather than adding them.
What's Next?
Like many of you, I am always experimenting.
We are planning to use our new home sleep study soon to see what else can be optimized and how much further we can push recovery and resilience.
Because the goal isn't perfection.
The goal is progress.
And Yes... We're Going Back
We loved Beyond so much that we are already planning for next year.
We will be attending as VIPs June 2 through June 4.
Several of our favorite people have already purchased tickets to join us.
If you decide to come, I would love to see you there.
And if you cannot make it?
Don't worry.
You know us.
We will bring the best ideas home.
We will test them.
We will learn them.
And if they prove valuable, we will incorporate them into patient care when your body is ready for that next stage of healing.
Because that's what we do.
We never stop learning.
And we never stop looking for ways to help you heal better.
