When Healing Isn’t Linear…
When Healing Isn’t Linear… and Neither Is the Path to Helping Others Heal
Recently, I found myself revisiting one of the many Facebook groups dedicated to mold illness—a space that can be both incredibly supportive and emotionally charged. These communities are often lifelines: a place where warriors on their healing journey can find understanding, compare protocols, and connect with others walking similar paths. I joined in hopes of offering a few free medical tips, answering questions, and simply supporting those searching for answers.
But during that visit, I stumbled across something that gave me pause. A former patient—someone who had once sought care in my clinic—was actively discouraging others from working with me. She labeled me a “quack,” mocked the fact that I communicate with my guides, and questioned my integrity as a physician.
So, I’d like to take a moment to address this with transparency and love—not for her, but for all of you who may have seen or heard similar comments. Because I believe in honesty, accountability, and healing the whole self, even when it’s messy.
The Backstory
This particular patient canceled her follow-up appointment just minutes before it was scheduled. She cited illness—which, ironically, is the very reason we’re here: to help people through illness. We have a cancellation policy in place not as a punishment, but because we’re booked out and there are other patients desperate to be seen. When a slot is left empty at the last minute, it’s a lost opportunity to help someone else.
Unfortunately, her response to our policy was anger. She yelled at my kind and committed front desk staff—who are truly the heart of our office—and has since been vocal online, not because of her care, but because she was held to a boundary she didn’t like.
On Being a “Phony”
She also took issue with the fact that I’ve shared publicly about my connection to spirit and the intuitive guidance I sometimes receive in my work. I’ve spoken openly about being a medical medium—not in the sense of replacing science, but in listening to the whispers that often accompany it. Some call it intuition. Some call it divine guidance. I simply see it as an added layer of insight that I’m honored to receive.
Let me be clear: I never force this part of my practice on anyone. I always ask for consent. If it doesn’t resonate with you, that’s perfectly okay. I believe that healing should be personalized, and you get to decide what feels aligned with your journey. I will never make this a condition of care.
My Roots and My Why
I was raised in a home that honored many religious traditions. My mother is Jewish. My father was Christian. I was exposed to synagogue, church, and everything in between. And I was given the freedom to develop my own spiritual beliefs over time. That journey brought me to a place of deep respect for the unseen and unspoken aspects of healing.
Functional medicine—and mold illness in particular—requires relentless dedication. It is not covered by insurance, and the burden often falls on patients who are already suffering. I don’t take that lightly. That’s why I invest so heavily in ongoing training. I spend weekends deep-diving into research, and several weeks a year traveling for advanced learning—because healing mold illness goes far beyond what was ever taught in medical school.
I do it because I care. Deeply.
The Reality of This Work
I know I won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. I’m okay with that now. As my work reaches more people, I will inevitably attract criticism. That’s the nature of visibility. That’s the price of growth. But I will never stop showing up for the people who need me—those who are willing to go deep, address the mind-body-spirit connection, and do the hard work of healing.
To the thousands of patients I’ve had the honor of walking alongside—thank you. To those considering joining this journey—know that you are safe here. You are heard here. And while I may not be perfect, I will always strive to provide the most informed, heart-centered, comprehensive care I can.
You don’t have to believe in guides. You don’t have to believe in energy or intuition. But if you believe in healing—real, layered, life-changing healing—I will meet you exactly where you are.
With love and gratitude,
Docstar
